SAAFoST Meritorious Award for Journalism 2018/2019
Dear Members,

Support the 28th year of the SAAFoST Meritorious Award for Journalism and stand to win some welcome prize money.
All you need do is nominate your favourite, most objective and factually correct article or programme, printed or broadcast during the course of 2018, that deals with food safety, food additives or food processing and which, you feel, contributes positively towards a better consumer knowledge or understanding of these issues.

A R1,000-00 finder's fee is available to the talented SAAFoST Member who nominates the winning printed article. The same fee is available to the nominator of the best programme broadcast on radio or TV in 2018. The author of the winning article, hopefully a SAAFoST Member, and the presenter of the winning programme, will each receive a certificate and a cash prize of R6,000!
For full particulars, a nomination form and a list of previous winners click here:
The closing date for nominations is 20 July 2019.

Last year was as busy a media year for food as ever and was packed with crises, controversies and scandals, so lots of interesting material is available.

The Meritorious Awards for Journalism were established to recognise any local author or presenter whose work contributes towards improving the consumer's understanding of topical and contentious food issues, so, by finding and nominating the best articles and programmes of 2018, SAAFoST Members play an important role in influencing the positive outcome of the competition and recognising and rewarding high standards of reporting.

If you have queries or comments, please contact me. I look forward with great interest to receiving piles of fine nominations!

Don't forget to be on the lookout for the best work printed and broadcast in 2019 for next year's competition. Good luck!

With thanks & best wishes,
